ICSW International Seafarers' Welfare Awards Update
21-07-2010
The International Committee on Seafarers' Welfare (ICSW) has launched the first International Seafarers' Welfare Awards to recognise and encourage excellent welfare facilities and services for seafarers. So far, we have had over 450 seafarers nominating - but we need many more! The awards will recognise shipping companies, ports, welfare organisations and individuals who provide exceptional welfare facilities and services to seafarers on land or at sea. They will be presented by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Secretary General, Admiral Efthimios Mitropoulos, at an event in London on 1 December 2010. Seafarers can nominate the Seafarer Centre of the Year, Shipping Company of the Year, & Port of the Year. Any organisation, company, or individual involved in seafarers' welfare can nominate the Welfare Personality of the Year. Seafarers can nominate via the awards website or by email. All organisations or companies nominated by seafarers will be invited to submit an application for an award through the awards website or via email. The awards are being supported by the IMO and the International Labour Organisation (ILO), along with the International Shipping Federation (ISF), the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), and the International Christian Maritime Association (ICMA). Please encourage all the seafareres you come into contact with to nominate for an ICSW International Seafarers' Welfare Award. The site is now open for nominations and submissions. You can order free posters & leaflets to promote the awards via email.
